Today was Lena’s birthday. Happy Birthday, Lena!

We spent the day with Henri, obviously 😛 That little bastard was a pill again on going to sleep for his second nap…BUT…he was a friggin angel for the rest of the day to be honest. Even at birthday dinner, where he was squirmy and definitely very, very tired…we went on a few walks together to go see stuff like the rest of the restaurant and the ad posts outside. Really loved those posts, with their rivets and knobs.

I’m gonna be honest: I’m really going to miss spending time with that guy. I really feel like I got to know him in just this short week, and as a person and not just a cute baby in a photo, you know? I don’t really know how to say it other than that…I just feel like I got to know him. He’s a very sweet, very trusting, very outgoing person who’s very curious about how things work, very playful and quick to smile, and is quite patient for a baby. I think. Haven’t been around too many babies, but he seemed to have a pretty high tolerance level for things not happening immediately (except for waiting for his bottle, perhaps, but that seems pretty damn normal, right?), and he actually listens, too. If he was being too rough, or we didn’t want him going somewhere, or doing something, and we told him, he listened. It was pretty amazing.

Anyway…I feel grateful to have been able to take this trip out here, but timewise and financially. Very, very grateful. I was able to help my family in a stressful time, and I’m very fortunate to have had a partner in the Ho who was supportive of that and made the entire trip possible. I literally don’t know how I would have done this trip without her.

So, we hung out with Henri during the day, he didn’t take a second nap, and then it was time to head out to the city and meet up with mom for her birthday dinner. We ate at Dos Caminos, which was delish, and then we met up with Stephen and Thida at another spot I can’t think of the name of that Stephen had some connections with, and we just had a good time there, too. We’d eaten dinner, so it was just drinks and sharing some desserts for us, but damn…that place was really damn cool…whatever it’s name was. Empello? Something like that 😛

Now we’re back at our Air BnB, the music is playing loud at the club, we cleaned and packed, and we’re ready to go home and to see our pups. Long day of travel tomorrow, but it’s always easier when you’re going home, it seems. Wish us luck!
