Day One of the Smarter Artists Summit.

I met *a lot* of people today, and it was glorious. I’m gonna have so many writer friend peeps after this convention, it’s gonna be dope 😛 Having a tribe of fellow writers is actually one of my BIG goals this year. When I was really struggling a couple months ago to get words down onto the page that I really loved, and not just WORDS, I thought about how important it is to not completely withdraw as an author (or, just “writer” in general). It’s important to have a tribe of like-minded people to reach out to when the anxiety gets the best of us.

So, yeah…I think that’s kind of actually been my main focus on this trip. Trying to find my kind of people. Motivated, passionate, resourceful…funny 😛 I’m glad I’m here.

Speakers were awesome – we did this live story brainstorming thing today as the last event where they came up with a book plot just based off the cover, and to be honest, I was skeptical about it…at first. And then it was awesome. They do the kind of brainstorming that *I* do. All the time. It was cool to see the similarities, and to learn from their insights about how to keep it on track, how to let it run wild, and how to handle it when you’re not the only person in the room spitballing.

Anywho…it’s time for sleeps. I can’t seem to make myself fall asleep early enough out here, but I’d *like* to get up on time for tomorrow’s sessions, have some breakfast, etc.

Wish me luck 😛
