I sent the rough draft of Escape From Red Tower off to my beta readers today. It took me several hours to put that together, which I wasn’t expecting 😛 But, it’s off…

…and going through all those chapters and all those pages actually reminded me that this book IS actually further along than my anxiety and self-criticism would tell me, and I know that even without getting their feedback, because I can see the structure of what I was going for. It’s solid. The rise and fall of the action IS in there, as are all the hijinx and the excitement. It just needs to be refined.

*long sigh*

That’s the reaction I wanted at the end of this draft. Confidence. A feeling of, “yes…this is working. It WILL work.”

It’s the exact opposite reaction of when I finished my other first draft back in December of last year. Ohhhhh boy was that a dark time. Literally. Because the sun sets at like, noon in December here in LA. Very dark.

I did that. I went and bought myself a new water bottle (RIP water bottle for sure – I called this morning to the car wash–and actually got through–and they didn’t have it). I took care of the pups. And then…

Went to Culver City to the Ripped Bodice indie book store and watched my bae do a reading for an author, Sarah Kuhn, who has a new book out. It was awesome! Like, legitimately awesome. Excerpt was great, Liz did great reading it, the company was great…it was a wonderful evening.

Then we came home and the A’s won against the Giants. Rubber match tomorrow!

Speaking of tomorrow…

I need to start on my rewrite outline. Oh! No…what I need to do is outline this short story/novella. THAT’s what I need to do. That shit needs to be done tomorrow. Monday at the latest, so that I can send it out to my VIP readers list.

Okay. So, tomorrow begins the tale of how Balta became captain of the Red Robert. Eeeee! 🙂

Good night!
