The ocean is crashing outside our condo right now.

I went outside and sat in the dark in my undies, listening to the waves. It’s such an incredible thing about this place to be able to go outside and feel the breeze, listen to the ocean, and feel so warm and cozy. The weather is that pleasantly perfect. Even in the breeze, right next to the ocean. It’s magic. I’ve never experienced anything like it.

We’re going home tomorrow.

We spent the day today at the beach. This time we tried Ka’anapali, which started off seeming a bit rough; it was super windy, and super hot.

But then we got our umbrella situated and took a couple walks to either end of the (truly massive) beach. If you’re hanging out in Ka’anapali, the best part of the beach is on the north side. Not all the way north, but just past the bend in the point. The sand stretches out there far enough to make it nice to wade in without nicking up your feet on rocks or reef, and it’s shallow enough that the water gets suuuuuper warm.

Omg. The water was amazing. I could have stayed in that water for hours.

But, we wanted to explore the whole beach, so we got out and kept walking. Far north side is crowded. Too crowded and not enough beach – but people like it there because there’s a cliff there that blocks the wind. South side is weird; steep slope, so the waves break super close to shore, and there are some issues with rocks super close to shore, too. Not ideal.

That middle/north section, though? Moonneeeeyyyy. I’d go back.

We ate Spam Wasubi and listened to the A’s beat the Rangers on a walk-off single by Chad Pinder. We figured out how to tie down the umbrella using the bag it came in as a sand-bag, we napped, and we watched a young woman dance in the surf with her Bose QuietComfort headphones on 😂

Then we came home, showered, and took off down to Wailea for dinner at Lineage, a restaurant created by Sheldon Simeon, the same guy who did Star Noodle, and a contestant on Top Chef. It was deeelish.

We ordered WAY too much food. Gonna eat that shit tomorrow for breakfast. Had Huli Huli chicken for the first time 🤤🤤🤤 Excellent meal.

And speaking of the morning, it’s time for me to call it a night. We have to get up early. Sigh.

Night, Maui. I’m going to fucking miss you and your magical nighttime breeze.
