Another amazing day on the lake with my brother and his fiancé.

It was HOT. AS. BALLLLSSSS.

But…with enough sunscreen and the water literally at my feet, it was actually bliss. The water was warm at the top, and cool if I let my feet dangle down from my floatie. I would dip down into the water and get my head wet whenever I was feeling too warm again, and I applied sunscreen four times throughout the day.

It worked. I stayed cool and I think I may have avoided a sunburn. I hope so.

All the while, it was 107° out there. Jesus.

It’s so freaking pretty here, though. The way all the volcanic rock looks on the shore, the dry pine woods about the water line with their roots exposed to the ground. Close to the shore like that, they appear to have tentacle legs and are making a break for the water.

We went up a ways in the lake to find a supposed water fall that was listed on our map, but it turned out to be a complete dead end 🙄

We backtracked a bit and just found a nice little cove to anchor in and we just spent the rest of the day floating and eating and napping. I was in the water most of the time. It was just so fucking hot.

Then we traveled back downstream a bit and found a place to set up for dinner and sleep. The sun was still up and glaring so I had to get back in the water just to stay cool.

Once it went down, got some crazy amazing magic hour shots, then we ate food, and Liz and I went up onto the roof and gazed at the stars.

Then we played a poker tournament and I finished third out of five! Not bad for my first time 🤓 I totally see why it’s an actual sport and people play it. So much strategy and positioning etc. I went out on an all-in for a mis-remembered pair of pocket cards 😂 I was tired I guess. Oh well.

Anyway…Danny is snoring next to me, I have my earplugs in, and it is sleeeeepy time.

Night 😉
