Twas the end of the Niners season today. We will not be facing the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. It’s two NFC Championship games in consecutive years, and two consecutive losses. Sigh. This one was particularly brutal, because our quarterback got injured on the very first drive of the game. It was essentially over after that. Our backup quarterback had only been with the team for a few weeks, was clearly a MASSIVE step down from Purdy…and even he got injured and had to be taken out of the game early in the third quarter.

What happened after that is something I’ve never seen before: we actually brought Purdy back into the game…but he couldn’t throw. Not unless it was a short toss of just a couple yards or so. So, it was just handoffs, which the Eagles defense was able to stack against very quickly. We even did a few direct “wildcat” snaps to our running back. We had no quarterback for almost half the game. That’s…it’s wild, is what it is. And, honestly, the worst loss I think I’ve ever watched the Niners suffer, because it meant we weren’t even competitive. It was over.

Sigh.

For real, there’s an upside: it is SO STRESSFUL to have your team play in the super bowl. It’s a bit of a relief to not have to worry about that stress. Don’t get me wrong, I’d much rather be rooting for them to win in the big game…but it’s also so much more chill to not care. We’re a good team. We should still be in the mix next year.

Took a huge chunk out of the finances. That was nice. And went and got donuts in the morning before dropping the weed whacker back off to Argy. Got donuts for them, too as a thank you. Hope they liked them.

Kitties are good. Jeff, today, figured out the lickie treats; that if he comes all the way up to my hand, he gets the good stuff straight from the source. I was so proud of him. He’s such a food-motivated cat. And it’s so nice that they’re getting so comfortable with me. They’re all so close, now. They actually come running toward me when I come out rather than away. Even Bruce is starting to warm up to me. Snacks, too, the kitten. He always flops over on his back and shows his belly now whenever I’m close to him. I want to pet him sooooo bad. But, not yet. Soon.

Got my straggling Netflix work done. Couple hours of stuff I needed to finish before Monday morning. Send in my hours tracking. That kind of stuff.

Busy day. Now…sleep.

Night!
