I was thinking about therapy just now, how today I walked my new (old) therapist through my reading routine breakthrough, excitedly sharing step by step how it works and how it came to be…and I had the a question pop into my mind all the sudden: I wonder if that’s tiresome for other people when I do that. It might be. I really enjoy it, but upon reflection, it’s just seeking praise, isn’t it, to tell a story like that. ‘Look at this thing I figured out, aren’t I clever?’ That’s tedious. Or it can be. I’ve always kind of held onto the enthusiasm angle for the other person in the conversation, that pure interest in the subject might be enough to give them something back in return for listening…and praise…but it might not be enough.

Granted, therapy plays by different rules, slightly, than normal conversation. So I guess I’m not so worried about literally today, more so…do I do that often in normal conversation? I might. I’ll need to watch it. Make sure I pick up on the cues from the other person whether they’re actually interested or not.

Sigh.

I’m wiped, as per usual. Going over the hill for therapy in the middle of the day the last two Tuesdays has definitely been a lot. I got my writing done, though, and got word from work that my trailer cutdown was approved, no notes—woot! (see? more praise)—so tomorrow I can dive into making the other two cutdowns well ahead of schedule. Happy about that in the sense that I did a good job on my first go-round.

No Shakespeare reading. But, major win: the tax prep is done. It’s all been sent off to our accountants. Woohoo! Finally. Two weeks late…but done. So…reading can happen now that’s off the table. I’ll catch up. I also swapped out the batteries in my UPS system for my work computer—the backup thing that will let my computer shut down properly if there’s a power outage. I guess those little fuckers need to be replaced every 3-4 years. It wasn’t hard, though. And not craaaazy expensive. Not cheap either. Though certainly cheaper than buying a whole new system. Then walked the pups with Bear, and helped her tape an audition.

Now…a little reading, and sleeeeeeep. Hope you had a nice day, and that you were listened to and praised like you deserve to be.
