We tryin out here.
This outline…well, the outline is going fine under normal circumstances. Shit takes me a while to come up with, you know? Part of it is figuring out the right ideas, but part of it is just sitting with stuff long enough to feel what sticks and having faith in it all.
These are not normal circumstances. I should be 1/4 of the way into writing this book already. And I’m at the rough outline stage. We have the book on pre-order, which means it HAS TO BE DONE on time. Which, to be clear, it will. I will not miss my deadline. Whatever time I’m using up here and now, I’ll make up for it during the drafting phase. But this outline must be done as quickly as possible. So, all this time I’m taking sitting in my chair waiting for stuff to feel right is very stressful, because I really need to get writing already.
Sigh.
It’s not ideal. I downright hate it. I will feel much much better when I’m on the other side of this part of the process and I know what the hell I’m going to write. Until then, it’s very fucking stressful. I just have to keep moving forward. Not let it break down. So, wish me luck tomorrow. Maybe tomorrow I can nail it all down and send off the rough and move onto the detailed. That would be lovely.
Also—this printer I bought which will print on CDs…it has a clog on one of its heads. I’ve tried the built in nozzle cleaning techniques. Didn’t work. Did that several times. Used a shit ton of very expensive ink. Just tried the next step up, which was putting cleaning solution onto a soaking pad underneath it and letting that sit for a couple hours. Didn’t work. Now, we try the same thing overnight. We’ll see if that works. I hope so. If that doesn’t work, I’ll try taking the cartridge out and pouring the stuff directly into the nozzle itself. If that doesn’t work after a couple times, I’ll wait a day and try it again. And if that doesn’t work…well, we’ll cross that bridge if we come to it. Sigh. I hope not. I really hope not. Look into a maintenance shop? Toss it? Maybe. We’ll see. Hopefully this stuff will just dissolve the clog and we’ll be back to good as new.
