Apparently Alan J. Pakula is my jam. I’ve seen All The President’s Men a couple times, enjoyed it both times. Watched The Parallax View last week and really enjoyed it, so much so that I figured this week I’d completely the “paranoid trilogy” and watch Klute, which I’m also really enjoying. Jane Fonda is both fantastic and not quite perfect in her role. I can see her pushing it at times. Sutherland is silent, not doing much, and great. But really it’s just the whole way the film has been put together so far that I love most. The guy on the roof scene was freaking great. And I have absolutely no idea where we’re going with it. I hope I like where we end up.
I didn’t write this entry last night, for whatever reason. I remembered right as I was starting to fall asleep. I think I get out of my routine whenever Liz is out of town. I had a glass of wine, too, which I rarely do…but something about the evening and wanting to watch a movie made me want to try one of my special bottles. I’ve only got two of those left, and one of them is a Monte Bello, a half bottle, which I’ve never tasted and has frequently come up as perhaps the best wine our country makes. Well…it was indeed fucking spectacular, just the one glass. So, maybe that was part of it. But, I’m here now, sitting in my chair, putting off diving into another outlining session. I lost momentum yesterday ever so slightly. Trying to make sure that doesn’t happen today. It won’t. I’m dialed in, despite me being here instead of there.
With that, I’m off.
