Friday. The weekend has BEGUN. I’ve always loved that about Friday evening, after work. All the time off stretches ahead, and none of it has been eaten up yet. So much possibility. All a cliche, I know, but only because we all feel that way, right? It’s a cliche because it’s true.
I won’t be taking the weekend off, however. I’ve got too much writing to do. We crossed the 300-page mark today, and despite falling behind on Thursday because of all the other things I had to do that day, I made up some of that time today. Not actually sure how much. I only know that in another six pages, I’ll be right on track.
The output schedule is ambitious at the moment to say the least. Somewhere between five and six hours of writing every day, which is only sustainable for short periods of time. It helps that I’m starting to reach the downhill portion of the race. I don’t actually think this book is going to hit 500 pages. Famous last words, lol. But…we’ll see. It will be how long it needs to be. Right now, we’re moving along. And some fun stuff to come. One relationship in particular I’m happy with how it’s evolving. What I was hoping would work is working.
Just had to take a break so that Joy could lick my face. She does that for a couple minutes and then she shimmies down into the crook of my shoulder, lays there on her back, and falls asleep while I pet her chest and tummy. That is our nighttime routine together. She has to do it every single night.
It’s been HOT. 98º today, and felt like every one of those degrees. But I got my work done. Got my writing done. Body feels good. I’m not as tired as I could be. Tired, for sure, but hanging in there. Just…plugging away, man. Buckling down to get it done.
Night night.
