I have the new Siri on my phone. To be fair, I think this is probably the Siri that we all wanted back…ten? years ago, when the option was first introduced—a phone assistant we could talk to and would do what we wanted. It’s odd, though, adding this feature in this time, when so much is up in the air in terms of how powerful these AI agents will actually prove to be, and what upsides and downsides will come with them. I don’t think any of that is clear, yet, nor is whether or not they’ll be a net-good either. Like social media, they could be a mistake. Then again, they could be the computer on the Enterprise, which felt like warm and cozy magic back in the day. We’ll see.
I’ll finish my outline tomorrow. Bold words! But I can make it happen. That will be a relief.
