I’m getting us back into the fine distinctions! It’s something I have bandwidth for, I guess, when I’m not so pressured with my writing, lol. Okay, been a while. Let’s crack open the book and see what we got…
Maze versus Labyrinth.
Ooo! A good one. Okay.
A maze has many paths and challenges you to find an exit.
A labyrinth has one path and draws you into its center.
Huh. I did not know that, particularly the “one path” part of a labyrinth. In the drawn diagram this book has, it also points out that labyrinths are generally circular, whereas mazes are generally square. Or, at least that’s my own distinction in the examples they give.
Ah, here’s where I think the confusion comes from. Labyrinths by their strict definition have long existed in an almost therapeutic form, the gradual, steady circular/spiral motion toward the center of something. It is not designed to get you lost like a maze is. BUT…
The labyrinth of Greek mythology—the one with the minotaur at its center—is pretty obviously a maze. It was designed to get Theseus lost, which is why he must use the thread to get out. So, at the end of the day, a labyrinth still must draw one to its center, and usually means a circular, meandering path to it…but may also sometimes be a maze with dead-ends that’s trying to get you lost.

There’s a cool wind out there tonight. Not cold. Not yet. Still a little tropical-feeling, but cool.
So, the kittens. I can’t remember if I’ve written about them yet, but there is a pair of kittens in the neighborhood that I’d fed for a couple days because they were starving. Well, I went yesterday finally to ask the people in the house the kittens had been hanging around to ask if I could take them. They said yes today—and my parents said yes to taking them, too—but…now the kittens are gone. Nobody knows where they went. Sigh.
They could just be hiding somewhere, or just disappeared for a bit. That happens. All the time. But…my gut tells me someone took them yesterday. That’s the last time they were seen, yesterday at 3pm, when the guy went to work.
If someone did take them, I hope it was to give them a good home.
They were so cute. Like, two of the most pretty cats I’ve seen in some time, with beautiful blue eyes and very soft white/gray fur.
I hope they’re safe.
